Every online order helps take CO₂ out of the air
Part of every online order goes to permanent carbon removal through Stripe Climate — paying to pull carbon dioxide that is already in the atmosphere back out, and store it for good. It costs you nothing extra: it comes out of what we receive, not added to your total.
How it works
Stripe is the company that processes our card payments. When you pay online, Stripe sets aside our share and pools it with thousands of other businesses doing the same. Stripe Climate spends it through Frontier, a group of buyers committed to more than $1 billion of permanent carbon removal by 2030. Frontier's team and outside scientific reviewers choose the projects — we don't pick them, and the money never passes through us.
Removal, not offsets
This isn't paying someone to avoid emissions somewhere else. It pays for CO₂ to be captured and locked away — underground, in rock, or in the ocean — in ways designed to last. Much of it is early technology that is still expensive, and early buyers are how it gets cheaper and bigger.
What this doesn't mean
- Alkaid is not carbon neutral. Our water comes in bottles and travels on trucks, and this doesn't cancel that out — it's a contribution, not a cover.
- It applies to orders paid through Stripe — card, Apple Pay, Google Pay or Link. Cash at the door and account billing aren't included.
- It's our contribution, not a donation by you, so it isn't tax-deductible for you.
What we do on our side
The 5-gallon jugs come back: the driver takes your empties when the full ones arrive, and they go back into service. And deliveries run as planned routes, grouped by area, so one truck covers a neighbourhood in one trip.
